Many spouses who are unhappy in their marriage relationships fear the thought of what their lives might be if they divorce. It is common to feel fear about where you will live, what will happen to your children and your relationships with your children, and how you will be able to afford living on your own, among other things. These fears are generally caused by media and gossip about "bad divorces", coupled with the unnecessary complexity and conflict spawned by court litigation and aggressive divorce lawyers. But all of this is easy to avoid.
Divorcing spouses are free to make their own decisions about the terms by which they will agree to end their marriage relationship. Most do not need lawyers to fight with their spouses or courts to make decisions for them, which is why mediation has overtaken litigation as the preferred way to obtain a divorce.
We don't hear much about mediated and amicably resolved divorce cases because, frankly, these cases are not exciting to talk about. Nobody wants to hear about easily resolved, peaceful, what we might call "good divorces". Those divorce stories are boring to talk about. Yet you should know that good divorce experiences certainly exist and make up the majority of cases.
This straighforward, no nonsense guide for divorcing spouses and their advisors provides a comprehensive approach to discussing and reaching agreement on all of the issues that divorcing spouses need to address in order to get an uncontested divorce. It presents a simple, linear process that anyone can understand and follow, and removes the confusion and inherent conflict of divorce litigation involving lawyers.
This book also serves as a resource guide and companion to CRT's Divorce Without Fear, Hostility, Lawyers and Other Nonsense, and it contains information about the divorce mediation process that spouses can use to assist them in working out all of the terms of their divorce agreement.
The course is offered as an on-demand, self-paced course, which you do not have to take in order to understand or use the book. You have the option of simply reading and using the book alone, or reading it in conjunction with the 50 lessons presented in the self-paced program.
This book, like the course, comes with the valuable tools that are used by CRT and all of its graduates who have been certified by CRT to work with spouses in creating divorce agreements in a cooperative, positive way.
The book explains how mediation works, what divorcing spouses should expect from competent mediators, what mediators should do effectively to successfully assist spouses in the process of divorce. It includes information that will be useful to any professional who offers financial, legal or therapy services to divorcing spouses .
The book will walk you thorugh all of issues that should be included as part of a divorce agreement, including decsions about children, division of assets, division of liabilities and insuracne considerations. Spouses can use what they learn from the book and use its included tools, on their own, or with the assistance of a mediator, in order to create their own agreements on how they will parent their children and manage their post-divorce financial matters.
